Run the North Shore presents Whistler Xterra 2012

Run the North Shore is very excited to promote this year’s Whistler Xterra event on July 21st and 22nd. We have made some modifications to the race route and programme to make it more family-friendly, and a great spectator venue. All events will start and finish at Lost Lake park beach area in beautiful Whistler B.C, the scene of Canadas most successful Xterra event ever in the early 2000s. Our goal is to host a fun-filled, accessible race weekend that triathletes and duathletes of all ages can enjoy. This year the $10 entry feeds from the kids race will be donated to the Whistler Off Road Cycling Association.

10km trail race
Full Duathlon: 4km run, 30km mountain bike, 8km trail run
Sport Duathlon: 2km run, 15km mountain bike, 4km trail run

Sunday 22nd July
Championship Triathlon: 1500m swim, 30km mountain bike, 8km trail run
Sport Triathlon: 500m swim, 15km mountain bike, 5km trail run
Kids triathlon: 50m swim, 3km mountain bike, 1km trail run

*all distances approximate until measured.

Relay triathlons: Both the Championship and Sport triathlons can be completed as relays. Each team shall consist of 2 or 3 members, and the team can complete the race as they choose, as long as only one team member completes in each leg of the race.

Provincial Championships

After two successful years in Whistler, B.C. XTERRA Canada is pleased to announce that the Canadian National Championship event will be moving to the Canmore, Alberta in 2012. The XTERRA festival will remain on September long weekend, consistent with it’s historic Canadian date on the Global XTERRA tour. But with this Whistler Xterra will still remain as the Provincial championship event.

XTERRA Race Value

Participants in the triathlon, duathlon and relay teams will receive an XTERRA branded, deluxe technical shirt from Icebreaker (retail value $85) along with other goodies from our generous sponsors. Kids will receive a special gift. Top age group finishers will receive special awards.

Post Awards Buffet

A post race awards buffet will be provided by the Whister Brew Pub additional tickets for friends and family can be purchased for $20 at time of online registration or on event day. The brew pub is a short 10 min walk from the finish of all the events.
